Oil separators / Interceptors are installed to form part of the surface water drainage system to protect the receiving watercourse from such pollutions. These pollutions may be caused by accidental spillages or leaks on machinery, plant, and vehicles. Separators are often the last line of defence between a controlled oil spill and a major pollution incident. If not properly serviced and maintained, they can fail through silt and sludge build ups in the base of the tank, saturated filters within, blocked safety devices, and faulty or no alarm warning systems in place.
